Blonde Brownies

2/3 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup soft butter
2 cup light brown sugar-packed
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup walnuts (optional)

  1. Grease 9x13 pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients.
  3. Beat butter, egg, sugar, and vanilla.
  4. Mix together.
  5. Cook at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.



Carmel Frosting:

1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/3 cup evaporated milk (or 2 Tablespoons rice milk for milk-free)
2-2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla OR 1/2 teaspoon maple extract

  1. In a saucepan melt butter, take off heat.
  2. Add brown sugar.
  3. Return to heat.
  4. Bring to a boil over low heat.
  5. Boil for one minute.
  6. Remove from heat, add milk.
  7. Return to boiling over low heat.
  8. Remove from heat -- cool to 110 degrees (lukewarm). 
  9. Add vanilla and powdered sugar with mixer.
  10. Spread over cool brownies.
