2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup soft butter
2 cup light brown sugar-packed
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup walnuts (optional)
- Grease 9x13 pan.
- Mix dry ingredients.
- Beat butter, egg, sugar, and vanilla.
- Mix together.
- Cook at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
Carmel Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/3 cup evaporated milk (or 2 Tablespoons rice milk for milk-free)
2-2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla OR 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
- In a saucepan melt butter, take off heat.
- Add brown sugar.
- Return to heat.
- Bring to a boil over low heat.
- Boil for one minute.
- Remove from heat, add milk.
- Return to boiling over low heat.
- Remove from heat -- cool to 110 degrees (lukewarm).
- Add vanilla and powdered sugar with mixer.
- Spread over cool brownies.
